Charles III is the reigning King of the United Kingdom and 14 other Commonwealth realms. He ascended to the throne on 8 September 2022, following the death of his mother, Queen Elizabeth II.
Born in Buckingham Palace as the eldest son of Elizabeth II and Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh, he was the heir apparent and Duke of Cornwall and Rothesay from 1952 until his accession. He holds the record as the longest-serving Prince of Wales.
